The Key Questions

What did you learn?

I learnt that it feels really good to help an organisation to raise money to continue the amazing things they do. As well I learnt that working with a group is a really solid way to bounce ideas off of one another and to discuss what actions would fit our group needs the most. Everyone obviously isn't all going to agree with the ideas but as long as you come up with one good one then you can go off that idea and then continue to get ideas as you go along with the project.

What was your marketing strategy?

I think my marketing strategy was mostly to sell where no one else would because you want your product to be the only product and not have to compete with opposing groups and or products. So I sold to my family and connections because no one else would be able to market those people except myself.

What was your selling strategy?

I think my selling strategy was mostly to tell the facts. Explain to the people I was selling to where exactly their money was going and how it was going to help the organisation. No one whats to donate if they know it not going to help anyone out. So I told them about the company and how the donation would benefit mass amounts of people and most people were happy to oblige and donate.

What worked and why?

What worked was working with the team I had to supply a plan and ideas. Most important parts are the ideas of how to maintain a plan and stick to it. Everyone did their role and sold as much as they could in 48 hours. Also as I explain the selling strategy, just telling the truth was what worked in my opinion.

What did not work and why?

I think trying to get 8 people all together in 48 hours could have corresponded better but everyone has different schedules and priorities so its understandable.

Why was it fun?

It was fun because the competitive spirit of all the teams participating were out. Everyone wanted to win the bragging rights and everyone wanted to win the trophy. So just knowing everyone was in it to sell the most was the funniest part for me.

Why did your team work well together?

Because we all had a plan and we all stuck to it and sold the most hats we could in 48 hours. We also set up social media circle where we could all communicate together.

What obstacles did you overcome?

Selling people on why they should purchase a hat or to donate their hard earned money to an organisation that most have never heard off. In the end we got a lot of sales of donations and purchases which was awesome to overcome. Exceptionally as first year students, it was a challenge to find that confidence to go out sell but we did it and overcame it and that's what marketing and business is, overcoming sum thing to become successful.
